Dr. Diego Astur is an orthopaedic surgeon from São Paulo, Brazil, with specialty fellowship training in knee and sports medicine from the Federal University of São Paulo. In 2014, he earned his PhD and in 2015, became an associate professor of orthopaedics and traumatology at the Federal University of São Paulo. He has published more than 70 papers in international journals, including JBJS, Arthroscopy, KSSTA, and AJSM. His research interest include complex ligamental knee injury, cartilage biology, and anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury, in particular, pediatric ACL injuries with open physis. He is also currently serving as the main director of SLARD (Latin America Sports Medicine Society), and on the Knee Committee of ISAKOS (International Society of Arthroscopy, Knee Surgery, and Orthopaedic Sports Medicine).
